Now with private rooms sleeping 2-4 people, with two en-suite and one offering wheelchair access. BISGEOS 12 BED BUNKHOUSE/HOSTEL was rewarded with the 5 star emblem by the tourist board in 2003 - only shared by 3 other hostels in scotland.

We renovated the dormitory in November/December 2006, changing the open plan bunkbed area into three private rooms, with two en-suite and one prepared for wheelchair access. This significant change will cater for a wider spectrum of visitors, while keeping the original charm.

The spacious kitchen has an extendable dining table in a cozy corner seating up to 12 people, ideal for a group booking with your friends, 2 electric hobs / ovens, 2 fridges, microvawe, toaster, mixer etc are availble to provide a rich meal from westray's fresh ingredients ( famous steaks and fresh seafoods). We also supply washing machine and dryer in this part of the hostel.

The bunks are made from solid timber to fit a single bed matress, which is wider than the usual bunk size. each bunk has its own light, socket and bedside shelf.

The highlight of the hostel is its conservatory. Nets, sails, ropes and nautical maps gives the special atmosphere blending in with the panoramic view over a large bay with three Orkney isles silouetted on the horizon. sea, land and sky are on stage from this point above the western cliffs.
