Despite being an island, Westray is far from small.
The island is almost 12 miles long and for true independant travel whatever
the weather, taking a car is a relatively inexpensive luxury. The Ro-Ro
ferry from Kirkwall to Rapness takes roughly 1½ hours. For a timetable
and pricelist visit the Orkney Ferries website at www.orkneyferries.co.uk |

From the ferry you can expect a ten mile drive to
the Bis Geos Hostel and Cottages. There is plenty of space to park your
car by the Bis Geos. |

There are petrol stations nearby at Pierowall. Many
of Westrays roads are single track with passing places. Always be aware
of oncoming traffic! |

Please note - Many of Westrays attractions require
a degree of walking - up to ½ mile in some cases |
